The UK’s port of Southampton is celebrating the inaugural visit of MSC Euribia, marking the start of its winter sailings around Northern Europe. In a traditional ceremony, the ship’s captain, Christopher Pugh, who studied at Southampton’s Warsash Maritime Academy, exchanged crests with local authorities.
Until April 2024, the ship will offer voyages to Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. MSC Cruises’ Managing Director for the UK & Ireland, Antonio Paradiso, expressed excitement about welcoming another ship to Southampton, following the success of MSC Virtuosa’s no-fly cruises. MSC Euribia is the second vessel in the company’s fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas.
Steve Masters, Harbour Master at the Port of Southampton, expressed his pleasure in hosting MSC Cruises’ flagship vessel and looked forward to collaborating with the MSC team during their winter sailings in Northern Europe. This year, it is truly commendable that MSC Cruises aligns with our commitment to sustainability by fueling their new fleet with liquefied natural gas, thereby decreasing the release of greenhouse gases.
MSC Euribia
MSC Euribia pays tribute to the ancient goddess Eurybia, who skillfully commanded the elements of wind, weather, and stars to conquer the oceans. In line with this visionary approach, the ship is dedicated to implementing cutting-edge sustainable technologies to safeguard and conserve the invaluable marine ecosystem.
Moreover, MSC Euribia proudly showcases captivating enhancements. While the decks proudly exhibit a plethora of extraordinary artistic creations, the hull itself stands as a remarkable visual marvel, a first of its kind.
