Celebrity Equinox moving to Port Canaveral 2024/2025 cruises to South America canceled

Celebrity Cruises has decided to cancel the 2024-2025 South America sailing season for Celebrity Equinox due to the deployment changes and the relocation of more ships to Florida homeports for Caribbean itineraries. The ship will now be based from Port Canaveral, offering a variety of tropical cruise vacations from the busiest cruise port in the world. Celebrity Cruises has informed the booked guests and travel agents about the cancellation of the South America sailings, which were scheduled to depart between November 21, 2024, and March 1, 2025.

The brand is constantly seeking opportunities to enhance its offerings, and with this goal in mind, Celebrity Cruises is pleased to announce the relocation of Celebrity Equinox to the Caribbean in November 2024.

The cancelled South America sailings were supposed to include ports in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay, as well as options to visit Antarctica, Patagonia, and the Falkland Islands.

Rather than the previously planned sailings, the ship will provide voyages in both the Eastern and Western Caribbean for seven nights, as these cruises are extremely sought after for luxurious vacations in beautiful destinations, without the inconvenience of short or lengthy voyages or travel to faraway departure ports. Those who had previously booked the now cancelled trips will receive full refunds automatically. Any future cruise credits applied to the reservations will also be refunded to the guests.

As compensation for the inconvenience, impacted guests will also receive a $200 onboard credit per stateroom (or $400 for Retreat bookings) for a future cruise. This same compensation was offered for recent cancellations on two other Celebrity ships. However, guests still have the opportunity to book a different Celebrity cruise for an oceangoing getaway in 2024 or 2025, as the first cancelled sailing is over a year away. The Celebrity Equinox, a 121,878-gross ton Solstice-class ship, will become the first Celebrity Cruises ship to homeport from Port Canaveral. Other cruise lines that sail from or make port stops at Port Canaveral include Norwegian Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, and TUI Cruises.
