Captain Cook Cruises Fiji is introducing the Caledonian Sky to its fleet

Captain Cook Cruises Fiji is introducing the Caledonian Sky to its fleet, a 1991-built, 114-guest expedition ship that is set to debut in November 2023. The acquisition from APT Cruises earlier this year signals a new era of high-end cruise experiences for the Fiji-based brand. This exciting news comes as the company’s sole vessel, the 168-guest Reef Endeavour, is due to be replaced by the Caledonian Sky. The Reef Endeavour has been in service for the company since 1996 and has undertaken pioneering expeditions to destinations that are otherwise unreachable.

The Caledonian Sky is described as a “luxury expedition small ship” and will sail to even more remote parts of Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. The program includes different 3-4 night expeditions accompanied by a team of Marine Biologists and cultural experts. Furthermore, Captain Cook has also revealed new itineraries for the 2024-25 season, such as a seven-night cruise to Southern Lau and Kadavu. It is hoped that the arrival of the Caledonian Sky will elevate and expand the adventurous voyages that the original ship has already undertaken.

The Captain Cook Cruises Fiji team is excited to offer travelers this unique opportunity to explore the South Pacific in a luxurious and safe environment. The company is confident that the Caledonian Sky will become an iconic vessel in the region, and will further cement the Fiji-based brand as a leader in cruise experiences.

The Caledonian Sky is a unique vessel with its three-decade cruising career and has sailed with several operators, including Noble Caledonia and Star Cruises. According to Captain Cook, this vessel is especially crafted for the “adventurous sophisticated traveler” and offers 57 ocean-view staterooms with “spacious boutique comfort”. This vessel also carries a fleet of ten zodiacs and is staffed with 70 dedicated crew members.

The itinerary of the Caledonian Sky is especially impressive and includes a sail to the southern portion of the Lau group of islands before embarking on an expedition to the islands of Tonga – during the whale migration. This is the perfect opportunity for those who want to explore the islands and observe the whale migration in comfort and style.
