Yesterday, Carnival Spirit greeted its inaugural passengers as it embarked from its new port in Mobile, Alabama. This move brings an exciting array of options from Carnival, both on board the ship and in the itineraries departing from Mobile. To commemorate the first voyage from Mobile, Captain Salvatore Siviero and the ship’s leaders warmly welcomed the guests and esteemed visitors, including Mayor Sandy Stimpson and CEO David Clark, for a joyous celebration led by Sarah Beth Reno, Carnival’s senior vice president of guest operations.
In a nod to the city’s vibrant spirit, the ship’s talented chefs presented a grand rendition of Mobile’s renowned MoonPie dessert. MoonPies are famously thrown to revelers during Mobile’s Mardi Gras parades. The Carnival Spirit’s colossal MoonPie, adorned with a Carnival funnel design, was shared among the ship’s guests after Mayor Stimpson ceremoniously sliced the first piece.
The ship is now embarking on a series of captivating six- and eight-day sailings until March 2024.
Carnival has slated the Carnival Spirit to set sail from Mobile for five, six, and eight-day itineraries, in addition to an extended 12-day Carnival Journeys Southern Caribbean voyage. This marks the first Carnival Journeys voyage to make an appearance from Mobile. Passengers can indulge themselves in many accessible Carnival destinations, namely the Alchemy Bar, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, and RedFrog Rum Bar. The Carnival Spirit undoubtedly spoils tourists with more lodging varieties than before, and it boasts twice as many balcony staterooms that older vessels from Mobile have failed to match.
